Teachers' Day 2017

Mumbai, September 5, 2017: Commemorating the birth anniversary of noted philosopher, educationist and statesman, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) celebrated its 59th Teachers' Day today at the Institute campus.  Dr. Srikumar Banerjee,  Chancellor of Homi Bhabha National Institute, BARC, Trombay,  was the Chief Guest for the occasion.

Dr. Banerjee conferred the Prof. S.P. Sukhatme Excellence in Teaching Awards (2017) and  Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2016) as a recognition to the contribution made by the faculty members of IIT Bombay in the field of teaching and research during the Teachers' Day function.  Before the presentation of every award, a short citation on the proud recipient was also read out.  The list of the awardees is as follows:

Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2016) was awarded to Prof. Shaibal K. Sarkar & his team members, Dept. of Energy Science and Engineering. 

The Teachers' Day function also witnessed a beautiful cultural performance by the students of the Institute as a mark of gratitute to their teachers.  The event was attended by Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members and students in large numbers.
